For existing homes, upgrading to EV-ready wiring typically costs $800-$1,500, depending on panel capacity and location.

Enhanced GFCI Protection

Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection is now required in more locations. Kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor outlets have long required GFCI protection, but the 2025 code extends this to laundry rooms, utility rooms, and any outlet within 6 feet of a water source.
